[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Der Korinth-Kanal ist von Tolo eine knappe Autostunde entfernt. Er machte den Peloponnes zur Insel: Der Korinth-Kanal. 1893 wurde die 6345 Meterlange und bis zu 80 Metertiefe \u201cgro\u00dfe Rinne\u201d eingeweiht. Der Schiffsweg vom westlichen Mittelmeer nach Athen wurde damit um rund 300 Kilometerverk\u00fcrzt. Schon in der Antike hatten die Menschen den Traum vom Kanal, und Kaiser Nero lie\u00df ihn schon mal anfangen, scheiterte wohl an der Schwierigkeit des Projekts, aber das geht neuzeitlichen Herrschern ja \u00e4hnlich\u2026 Schiffe bis zu 10.000 Tonnen k\u00f6nnen den Kanal passieren.<\/p>\n

Der Kanal ist an der Wasseroberfl\u00e4che etwa23 Meterbreit und acht Meter tief. Der Kanal ist \u201cEinbahnstra\u00dfe\u201d, an manchen Tagen sogar wegen Wartungsarbeiten ganz geschlossen, so dass Wartezeiten eingeplant werden m\u00fcssen.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]
