[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Nafplio ist eine Hafenstadt am Argolischen Golf auf der Peloponnes in Griechenland. Die Stadt hat 16.900 Einwohner (2001) und war von 1829 bis 1834 die provisorische Hauptstadt von Griechenland. Die Gemeinde Nafplio wurde zuletzt 2011 durch Eingemeindungen erheblich vergr\u00f6\u00dfert und beherbergt 31.607 Einwohner.<\/p>\n

Die Altstadt von Nafplio liegt auf einer Halbinsel unterhalb des Burgberges Akronauplia. Zentrum der Altstadt ist der Syntagma-Platz (Verfassungsplatz), an dem zwei historisch bedeutsame Geb\u00e4ude stehen: Die 1713 erbaute venezianische Kaserne, die heute das Arch\u00e4ologische Museum beherbergt, und eine ehemalige Moschee. Die Vouleftiko-Moschee wurde 1550 erbaut und diente 1825 als Tagungsort des ersten Griechischen Parlaments.<\/p>\n

Zu den Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten Nafplios z\u00e4hlen die drei Festungen der Stadt: Die Festung Akronauplia befindet sich auf dem Burgberg oberhalb der Altstadt; die von den Venezianern 1711\u20131714 erbaute Palamidi-Festung bekr\u00f6nt eine216\u00a0mhohe Anh\u00f6he \u00f6stlich der Altstadt und ist nach dem antiken Sagenhelden Palamidi benannt. Man erreicht sie entweder mit dem Auto oder erklimmt die 999\u00a0Stufen. Die Bourtzi-Festung liegt auf einer kleinen Insel vor der Hafeneinfahrt, sie wird im Volksmund auch \u201cHenkersinsel\u201d genannt, da sie ehemals Wohnst\u00e4tte des Henkers und Gef\u00e4ngnis der Delinquenten war.<\/p>\n

Von fr\u00fcheren Stadtmauern sind zwei Schutzwehrt\u00fcrme erhalten sowie zwei alte Stadttore.<\/p>\n

Auf dem Platz der Freunde Griechenlands stand einst ein venezianischer Schutzwehrturm, der aber 1866 abgerissen wurde. Heute bildet das Denkmal der Freunde Griechenlands den Mittelpunkt dieses Platzes. Es wurde 1903 zum Gedenken an die franz\u00f6sischen Verb\u00fcndeten errichtet, die Griechenland im Befreiungskampf gegen die T\u00fcrken halfen. Der Entwurf des Obelisken stammte aus Paris, ausgef\u00fchrt wurden die Arbeiten jedoch in Griechenland. Auf einer Seite sind in einem Relief die Personifikationen Griechenlands und Frankreichs dargestellt.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]
