[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Epidauros ist die bedeutendste antike Kultst\u00e4tte f\u00fcr den Heilgott Asklepios (Asklepieion) in Griechenland. Sie liegt auf dem Gebiet der Ortschaft Lygourio auf der Peloponnes in der Region Argolis etwa30 kmvon der Stadt Nafplio und etwa13 kmvon Palea Epidavros entfernt.<\/p>\n

Das imposanteste und auch heute noch auff\u00e4lligste Bauwerk von Epidauros ist zweifellos das gro\u00dfe, in einen Hang gebaute Theater mit grandiosem Blick auf die Berglandschaft der Argolis. Es stammt aus dem 4. Jahrhundert v. Chr. (~ 330 v. Chr.), also aus sp\u00e4tklassischer Zeit und gilt als Werk von Polyklet dem J\u00fcngeren aus Argos. Besonders die gro\u00dfe, halbkreisf\u00f6rmige Zuschauertrib\u00fcne\u00a0(koilon)<\/em>, die nach einem Umbau um etwa 170\/160 v. Chr. bis zu 14.000 Personen Platz bietet, beeindruckt auch heutige Besucher.
