[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Die gr\u00f6\u00dfte Stadt des Landes ist zugleich einer der Geschichtstr\u00e4chtigsten Orte auf der ganzen Welt. Die Moderne einer Weltstadt und das Erbe der Antike treffen hier unter der Sonne Griechenlands aufeinander.<\/p>\n

\u00dcber der Stadt thront das antike Wahrzeichen Athens, die Akropolis. Sie erinnert an die Antike, als an diesem Ort Philosophen wie Aristoteles, Platon und Sokrates viele Grundlagen der europ\u00e4ischen Kultur errichteten. Antike St\u00e4tten gibt es in Athen reichlich. Doch auch das moderne Athen hat unglaublich viel zu bieten: Einkaufsmeilen, sch\u00f6ne Caf\u00e9s und Tavernen.<\/p>\n

Athen ist Dreh- und Angelpunkt. Der neue internationale Flughafen und der Hafen der Nachbarstadt Pir\u00e4us bilden den Mittelpunkt f\u00fcr Verkehr in und nach Griechenland.<\/p>\n

Nach der Sage buhlten die beiden G\u00f6tter Athene und Poseidon um die damals noch namenlose Stadt. Beide sollten der Stadt ein Geschenk machen \u2013 wer das sch\u00f6nste Geschenk machte, sollte zum Namenspatron auserkoren werden. Poseidon schenkte der Stadt einen Brunnen, der jedoch nur Salzwasser f\u00fchrte. Athenes Geschenk and die Stadt war ein Olivenbaum, der Nahrung, Oliven\u00f6l und Holz spendete.
