If\u00f8lge mytologien, var det en s\u00f8n af kong Foreneus der grundlagde \u201cForonikon City\u201d, der for os i dag er kendt under navnet p\u00e5 s\u00f8nnen: Argos.<\/p>\n

Byen n\u00e5ede sin h\u00f8jeste blomstringstid i slutningen af det 7. \u00e5rhundrede f.Kr., Bystaten Argos udvidede sin indflydelse og magt til hele regionen i det \u00f8stlige Peloponnes. Det er ogs\u00e5 f\u00f8destedet for store billedhuggere som Ageladas og Poliklitos og efterh\u00e5nden udviklede den sig til en af de mest str\u00e5lende kulturelle centre i oldtiden.<\/p>\n

Masser af invasioner og angreb fulgte og endelig blev Argos erobret af gr\u00e6kerne, venetianerne, romere, goter, slavere og byzantinerne. Under den byzantinske periode, blev byen et betydeligt landbrugs-center, Omr\u00e5det blev erobret af frankerne (1212), venetianerne, (1388-1463 og 1687) og endelig tyrkerne i 1821.<\/p>\n

I dag er Argos igen i en af sine mest blomstrende perioder, centrum for hele regionen, Argolidas landbrug, industri og handel. Regionen hilser alle sine bes\u00f8gende ved gener\u00f8st at tilbyde dem sin uvurderlige historiske arv: Akropolis i Larisa, tempel Pythean Apollon og Athene, Mycenean kirkeg\u00e5rd Deirada, \u201cVirgin of the Rock\u201d (bygget p\u00e5 det gamle tempel til Hera Akrea), det 20.000 s\u00e6der store antikke teater Nympheum, hvor den 4. internationale forsamling fandt sted, de romerske bade, den antikke Agora, og templet viet til Afrodite. L\u00e6ngere nede p\u00e5 listen over vigtige lokaliteter finder vi kirken i Saint Peter, biskops\u00e6de for Argos, kaserne Kapodistrias og mange andre bem\u00e6rkelsesv\u00e6rdige nyklassicistiske bygninger. Huset af Kallergis, som ogs\u00e5 er en nyklassicistisk bygning, en af de vigtigste museer i Gr\u00e6kenland findes, og det er museet Argos.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]
